IS LASIK BLADELESS
TYPES OF LASIK
All new lasik technologies are now automated. In all Lasik technologies, there is a kind of instrumentation involved, whether in creating a flap or removing a lenticule. The term "bladeless" lasik is more of a marketing tool . The only truly non-touch bladeless technology is TransPRK , which requires 3 days for recovery, compared to 3 hours of recovery in Ultralasik, 24 hours in femtolasik, and 3-5 days in Relex smile. Confused? Leave all the technical details for your doctor, who will recommend only what is suitable for your eyes!
WHAT IS THE IDEAL AGE FOR LASIK?
AGE GROUP
Vision correction through Lasik/Laser can be done starting 18 years, and up to 59. Keep in mind that people might develop Presbyopia (difficulty seeing near objects) after the age of 40 , regardless having done Lasik or not. If you are doing Lasik and you are above 40, you might still need your reading glasses.
My prescription has changed slightly since last year, can I still do lasik ?
Vision usually stabilizes between 18and 21 years . If there are no other conditions (retinal problems, keratoconus..), a small variation in vision can be assessed by the doctor and would not prevent you from getting Lasik done.
What is the point of getting Lasik if I will wear reading glasses after 40 ?
Getting Lasik is a choice for comfort for your daily activities. You can wear prescription glasses and then switch to progressive lenses after 40 , or you can be free from glasses for few years before having to think about it.
IS LASIK PAINFUL?
The procedure itself is not painful , and it takes just under 3 minutes per eye. It is done under topical anaesthesia and does not require hospitalisation.
